Marriage and Family Therapist


Sherie’s area of expertise is with First Responders.  Sherie serves as a clinician with WCPR and with local CISM teams. She has been privileged to work for our local police department and honored to be the wife of a firefighter, mother of a police officer. Sherie comes from a family full of public safety which includes military, police, dispatch and fire. It is because of this, she understands first-hand the unique lifestyle a public safety family lives.

Sherie and her husband have been married for over twenty five years. They have three children. Sherie is a very active member within our community, always looking for a way to contribute when and where she can.  Her Christian faith is foundational to who she is as a person and as a therapist.

Kristie Hopper is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.  She is skilled in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Techniques, and faith-based counseling approaches.  Kristie is passionate about working with clients through the process of recovery from trauma or crisis.  Her other passions include working with couples and families in their journey of developing new communication and relationship skills in order to help create an overall healthier dynamic for each individual.  Also, as the spouse of a first responder, Kristie is intimately aware of the unique challenges faced by those working in the field of public safety, as well as by their families, and finds great reward in working with them.  Kristie has been married for over 30 years, and has an adult son. 



Marriage and Family Therapist


Brenna is a licensed marriage and family therapist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and families.  She has been practicing in the field for many years, working with local law enforcement agencies.  Brenna is trained in the nurturing parenting approach and has a passion for strengthening family bonds through communication and loving solutions to behavioral problems.  She has also worked as a personal trainer and has been certified in sports nutrition which ignited her interest in nutrition for psychology.  She continues to study nutrition and its effects upon mood and mental health and incorporate in her practice in order to promote health from the inside out.  During her free time, Brenna loves to exercise and spend time with her husband who is a first responder and their two young children.

Tonya Salas is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her BA in psychology at SUNY Oswego and later her M.S. in Counseling Psychology, with dual concentrations in Marriage and Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling, from Dominican University of California. Tonya is trained in Brainspotting, EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy and the Gottman Method for Couples. Prior to working as a therapist she taught AP Psychology at the High School Level and worked with military families in various capacities during her husband’s 25 years of active duty service. As the daughter of a cop and a military wife, Tonya found her passion for Military and First Responders and understands the culture and challenges surrounding these populations. Tonya is passionate about working with couples and adult clients and working through the process of healing from trauma and promoting post-traumatic growth. She believes in engaging clients to recognize and utilize the strengths and skills they already have while developing new coping skills. 

Tonya’s husband is a retired AF veteran, they have been married for 28 years and have two adult sons and a teenage daughter. In her free time, Tonya volunteers at the West Coast Post-trauma Retreat (WCPR) for First Responders, enjoys family time, cooking, traveling, and walking the family’s Alaskan Malamute.

Marriage and Family Therapist  AMFT 

Jill is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University in Alamitas, CA. Jill is supervised by Sherie Mahlberg (LMFT92236). She began her career as a 911 dispatcher many years ago for a large Bay Area agency and has dedicated much of her time to serving First Responders at West Coast Trauma Retreat Center. For the past 25 years, she has worked as the community event coordinator for the SF Firefighters Toy Program, and has earned hours as a therapeutic behavior specialist with children with behavior challenges. She is passionate about helping people heal and discover their full potential. She specializes in Post-Traumatic Stress injuries and trauma, and is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavioral treatments.

Julie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who worked for many years as a lay counselor in a church setting before returning to school to complete a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Julie serves as one of Restoration's clinical supervisors, coaching and teaching our Associates.  Julie has experience working with adults with a variety of mental, emotional, relational and spiritual issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and other life challenges. Julie is a certified EFT, Emotionally Focused Therapist.

Kelly Haven is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Kelly is supervised by Sherie Mahlberg (LMFT 92236). Kelly’s path to becoming a Therapist began as an eighteen-year-old Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), working as a first responder. This, combined with a longstanding family history of Military and Civil Service sparked a deep desire to serve those individuals who have dedicated their careers to Public Safety, and the Military.  

Kelly remains involved in the community by serving the community in multiple capacities. First, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the Foster Care System. Kelly completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology followed by a Masters in Psychology with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Counselling, both from Brandman University.

Teresa Hood is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She is supervised by Julianne Hicks (LMFT103638). Teresa has over 25 years of experience in church ministry and has been on staff as a Children’s Pastor since 2006, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families who have a variety of mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and relational concerns.  

Teresa has been married since 1986 to her best friend, they have two adult children and a beautiful grandchild. She has history working in Private/Corporate Christian Education, Human Resources, and Business.  She enjoys learning, reading, hiking, exercise, and spending time with her family.

Leslie Wisuri is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Leslie is supervised by Julianne Hicks (LMFT103638). She graduated from Santa Clara University with a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology. Leslie is trained in trauma-informed care, and is passionate about supporting clients while they process and heal from trauma. Leslie has a heart to serve teens, college students, and young adults as they transition into their careers. From testing anxiety to preparing for marriage, the stresses of this period of time in life is like no other. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband who is enlisted in the military, and her puppy as well as spending time outdoors, going on hikes and cooking.

Sonnie is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree in Psychology. Sonnie is supervised by Shannon Gravier (LMFT 51188). Sonnie has over 30 years of experience as a pastor. Her passion is with working with teenagers as they struggle to find their identities, cope with the rapid physical, emotional and psychological changes that take place during teen years and adjust to the demands of peers, schools, families and society. When seeing Teenagers, Sonnie aims to work collaboratively with parents, family.  She believes that working with families to be a powerful medium for lasting change. Sonnie is the mother of a Firefighter, grandmother to a police officer. She serves adults, teens, tweens, families, and individuals in all stages of life. Sonnie is adventurous and loves to travel in her free time.

Shannon earned her Master's degree from Sonoma State University and her bachelor from UC Davis.  She is skilled in using cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness techniques and play therapy with individuals, children and families. She has experience working with children and families experiencing behavioral issues, children with special needs and parenting struggles. She is certified in thee Triple P positive parenting program and has vast experience in foster care system and non profit arena.
