Marriage and Family Therapist


Sherie Mahlberg's area of expertise is with First Responders.  Sherie serves as a clinician with WCPR and with local CISM teams. She has been privileged to work for our local police department and honored to be the wife of a firefighter, mother of a police officer. Sherie comes from a family full of public safety which includes military, police, dispatch and fire. It is because of this, she understands first-hand the unique lifestyle a public safety family lives. Sherie has additional education in CISM, CISD, Peer Support, EMDR, Brainspotting, and EFT.  

Sherie and her husband have been married for over twenty five years. They have three children. Sherie is a very active member within our community, always looking for a way to contribute when and where she can.  Her Christian faith is foundational to who she is as a person and as a therapist.  

Sherie currently sees First Responders only.  They must be sworn employees.



Marriage and Family Therapist


Kristie Hopper is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a trauma-informed and attachment-based approach.  Kristie has advanced training in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and EMDR and Brainspotting for the treatment of trauma and trauma-related disorders.  Kristie is also skilled in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques, along with faith-based approaches to therapy upon request.  Kristie enjoys working with a variety of clientele including: children and adolescents, couples and families, individual adults, and first responders and military members for a variety of presenting issues including: depression and anxiety, family and relationship disruptions, and recovery from childhood and other types of trauma. 

Kristie currently sees First Responders only.



Marriage and Family Therapist


Brenna Repard is a licensed marriage and family therapist who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and families.  She has been practicing in the field for many years, working with local law enforcement agencies.  Brenna is trained in the nurturing parenting approach and has a passion for strengthening family bonds through communication and loving solutions to behavioral problems.  She has also worked as a personal trainer and has been certified in sports nutrition which ignited her interest in nutrition for psychology.  She continues to study nutrition and its effects upon mood and mental health and incorporate in her practice in order to promote health from the inside out.  During her free time, Brenna loves to exercise and spend time with her husband who is a first responder and their two young children.  

Brenna currently sees First Responders only.



Marriage and Family Therapist


Kristen Boothe is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years of experience in the mental health field, with over 15 post licensure years. She has worked in many settings with many populations including school based, day treatment, residential and private settings, and has particular expertise with blended family and alcohol/drug related issues. She not only enjoyed providing direct service to clients, but also providing clinical oversight and training to professional and paraprofessionals.  While running her own group private practice for 10 years, she developed specific experience and passion in working with individuals and couples from First Responder and military families. This passion originated from her own 15+ year marriage to an active duty Fire Captain and the experience of raising 4 boys in a "fire family". In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, actively volunteering with her children's school and extracurricular activities, as well as continuing to develop her ever-growing list of hobbies.

Kristen currently sees First Responders only.



Marriage and Family Therapist


Joshua Todt is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT108246) and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC 5384) supervised by Shannon Gravier (LMFT 51188). Josh is currently employed as a deputy sheriff and has over 26 years of experience. For the past 16 years, Josh has been providing peer support to fellow first responders and facilitating critical incident stress debriefings. Josh earned his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. He has been providing EMDR therapy for first responders at the West Coast Post Trauma Retreat for the past 2 years. Josh is entering his 27 year of marriage, has 3 children, and is a 3 rd generation law enforcement officer and understands the impact the job can have on the responder and their families. In his spare time, Josh is an avid fisherman and loves to spend time on his boat trolling.

Joshua Capper is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT118425). Joshua is supervised by Kristie Hopper (LMFT112759).  Josh graduated from CSU Stanislaus with a B.A. and M.S. in Psychology. He also has an A.S. in Fire Science and Business administration.  Josh also currently works as a full-time firefighter/paramedic with over 20-years of experience in the fire service, with 12 years on a 911 ambulance. Because of his rich history as a First Responder, he has a passion for working with clients who have a trauma history such as PTSD(I), Complex PTSD(I). Josh has advanced training in EMDR and Brainspotting.

Julie Hicks is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who worked for many years as a lay counselor in a church setting before returning to school to complete a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Julie serves as one of Restoration's clinical supervisors, coaching and teaching our Associates.  Julie has experience working with adults with a variety of mental, emotional, relational and spiritual issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and other life challenges. Julie is a certified EFT, Emotionally Focused Therapist. 


Office Manager 

Sara Lewis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from William Jessup University, with minors in Psychology and Bible.  She is passionate about seeing people live life to its fullest potential and facilitating personal freedom and growth.  She grew up in a family with many first responders, enjoys playing her piano, writing and traveling as much as possible.

Kelly Haven is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Kelly is supervised by Sherie Mahlberg, (LMFT92236).  Kelly’s path to becoming a Therapist began as an eighteen-year-old Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), working as a first responder. This, combined with a longstanding family history of Military and Civil Service sparked a deep desire to serve those individuals who have dedicated their careers to Public Safety, and the Military.  

Kelly remains involved in the community by serving the community in multiple capacities. First, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in the Foster Care System. Kelly completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology followed by a Masters in Psychology with a dual emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and Clinical Counselling, both from Brandman University.

Teresa Hood is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She is supervised by Brenna Repard (LMFT111587). Teresa loves working with a variety of clients, however, holds a special place in her heart to work with children and their families. Teresa has over 25 years of experience in church ministry and has been on staff as a Children’s Pastor since 2006, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families who have a variety of mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual issues including anxiety, depression, grief, and relational concerns.  Teresa has been married for over 35 years, with adult children and grandchildren. She has history of working in Private/Corporate Christian Education, Human Resources, and Business.  She enjoys learning, reading, hiking, exercise, and spending time with her family.

Ed Chicoine is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT108597). He is supervised by Brenna Repard, (LMFT111587). Ed earned a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University. He has been married for 30 years, with four children. Ed retired from 30 years of law enforcement work and had served in the military for 8 years. Ed has found great meaning in helping others find their own sense of wellness through the therapeutic process. Ed had formed and led the peer support program for his agency and has worked with the First Responder Support Network and their WCPR/SOS programs since 2003. At FRSN, Ed has served in volunteer roles as peer counselor, chaplain, vice president, and clinician. Edi is trained in CISM, Peer Support, and EMDR. During his spare time, Ed enjoys traveling, camping, and kayak fishing.

Sonnie Hamner is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree in Psychology. She is supervised by Julianne Hicks (LMFT 103639). Sonnie has over 45 years of marriage and 30 years of experience as a pastor. She has an unquenchable thirst for life-long learning, which has earned her advanced training in the following areas: EMDR, Brainspotting, EFT, and Linguistic Analysis. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Mental Health Integrated Medicine Provider. Sonnie is the mother of a Firefighter, grandmother to a Police Officer, and Auntie to many First Responders. Because of this, she is a culturally competent first responder clinician as well. She serves adults, teens, tweens, families, and individuals in all stages of life.

Shannon Gravier earned her Master's degree from Sonoma State University and her bachelor from UC Davis.  She is skilled in using cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness techniques EMDR, and play therapy with individuals, children and families. She has experience working with children and families experiencing behavioral issues, children with special needs and parenting struggles. She is certified in thee Triple P positive parenting program and has vast experience in foster care system and non profit arena. 



Clinical Social Worker

Alexcia Jennings completed her Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, followed by a Master’s of Social Work, both from Sacramento State University. She is supervised by Julianne Hicks, (LMFT103639). She comes from working with children and families in the Child Welfare System, where a great deal of her work was with trauma and crisis. Alexcia is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). 

She is the daughter of a Deputy Police Chief and her partner is a firefighter for CalFire, which has given her insight and personal experiences with the unique challenges first responder families face.  In her free time, she enjoys working out, going on hikes, and spending time with her family.
